COD: Warzone — Season 5 News & Updates
There’s no shortage of action this summer. COD: Warzone has been pushing out updates, patches, and new content to keep us entertained. At almost 60 million players, COD Warzone is undoubtedly one of the reigning champions in the online battle-royale gaming community. Now, with Season 5 on the horizon, let’s take a look at some of the latest news, discoveries, and leaks in COD: Warzone.
Huge Map Changes
With every new season comes great change. It’s a pattern that Fortnite and Apex Legends helped standardize for battle royale. Currently, developers involved with COD Warzone have claimed that the huge football field will open up for gunfighting, and the “loot train” will continue to circle the map. These map changes are no coincidence. Because the next Call of Duty title is rumored to be set during the Cold War, COD Warzone developers are dropping hints and in-game activities that reference these new updates, like a fallout shelter, a war room, and even a nuclear warhead. Data-miners and leakers have been doing their due diligence, spending hours looking through source code and other game data to determine what awesome developments might be on the horizon. This summer, two files were found — M200 & M200_c — and later confirmed to be the Spas-12 and the Intervention. If the leakers are right, playing COD Warzone with these classic weapons from the Call of Duty series will take Season 5 to the next level. See more from leaker @ModernWarzone.
In COD Warzone, operators are your unique playable characters with customizable skins, dialogue, and cosmetic customization options. In Warzone, opposing sides have teamed up to form the Armstice, a joint task force whose sole goal is to survive. Recently, leakers have found unreleased files that hint at possible selections for operators. Take a look below.

- Kilgore (Allegiance / Spetsnaz)
- Nebo (Allegiance / Jackals)
- Stohli (Allegiance / Spetsnaz)
- Trigg (Allegiance / Spetsnaz)

In the meta-data for COD Warzone, there are about 7 seasons’ worth of content. If every previous season has lasted two months, and there are three seasons left, we’re slated for last season’s launch by December. These release dates align with the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. But what lies ahead? Rumor has it there is a new Call of Duty title (Cold War) that Infinity Ward is promoting more aggressively with each new Warzone season.
Final Season 4 Updates
Want to make the most of this season? Season 4 updates go live on July 28th, and Season 5 drops on August 5th. In the meantime, stay tuned for the Season 4 update, which includes a range of new functionalities and battle items. Some updates are even being saved for the weekend, with Activision deploying a new “triple feed” XP event, to help Call of Duty fans complete their Battle Passes.
What does this mean for you? Double XP, Double Weapon XP, and Double Battle Pass progression for all. Shoot House 24/7, Shipment 24/7, Deathmatch Domination + Drop Zone, and Juggernaut Royale Quads in Warzone make a return as well.
